The main aim of therapy in osteoporosis is to reduce fracture risk. Assessment of fracture risk using clinical risk factors and bone mineral density (BMD) is therefore an important aspect in deciding on starting pharmacotherapy in patients with low bone mass. One of the available tools that can be used in this regard is FRAX, an online fracture risk assessment tool and the talk will outline the appropriate use of this clinical tool as well as the intervention thresholds for starting pharmacotherapy.
